breastfeeding
Some common things parents report that Dr. Young can address related to feeding:
Painful latch
Shallow latch
Bites or chomps
Milk spilling out while latched
Side preference
Clicking or whistling
Not gaining weight adequately
Dr. Young works closely with Lactation Consultants for complicated breastfeeding cases that do not respond to positioning alone. Often these are caused by musculoskeletal issues that prevent proper latch and suck like jaw, tongue, neck, and cranial asymmetries. She works closely with Pediatric Dentists doing pre/post surgical care for tongue/lip tie. Parents can expect results within the first visit and resolution within 3-5 visits in most cases.
Breastfeeding Conditions and Symptoms:
All of these indicate specific problems your child may be having that Dr. Young is trained to evaluate and care for. These symptoms can be a result of conditions such as:
- TMJ dysfunction
- Cranial asymmetries
- Tongue coordination and motion
- Spinal range of motion restrictions
- Tethered oral tissues (tongue and lip-tie)
